I was chosen to be a tester for this pattern and Suzanne and her team have been working non-stop to make this pattern a great one with lots of options.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ow3M4gqwmno/WUviwxgJ1PI/AAAAAAAAFqM/Qff88aKl0YQUqBj95koJ7-vnY5LW4ajeQCLcBGAs/s1600/19417111_10213611379058736_5009588357710106687_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1371" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ow3M4gqwmno/WUviwxgJ1PI/AAAAAAAAFqM/Qff88aKl0YQUqBj95koJ7-vnY5LW4ajeQCLcBGAs/s640/19417111_10213611379058736_5009588357710106687_o.jpg" width="548" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are three sleeves, two necklines and opportunity for creativity with that back yoke. You could cut the yoke from a contrasting fabric, coordinating fabric, lace... or cut it on the bias to create a diagonal pattern feature.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even though I try to be dutiful tester and help the pattern designer by following directions exactly, toward the end of the testing week, I got the itch to modify. I've made a few cowl necks and draped fronts and backs and I thought I might be able to use my previous experience to create an interesting drape option for that back opening, which is one of my favorite things about the pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is how it turned out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zJ3y7QCsFQg/WUvj-qVNxyI/AAAAAAAAFqU/VxCla9vcCXYOgiNOI44iHQg5d8seZY9ywCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zJ3y7QCsFQg/WUvj-qVNxyI/AAAAAAAAFqU/VxCla9vcCXYOgiNOI44iHQg5d8seZY9ywCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_3675.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are some similar style ready to wear versions <a href="http://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/jump/product/women-women-activewear-tanks-tees/Sleeveless-Mesh-Open-Drape-Back-Top/1000248592?colorId=NS1003537&pos=1:12&N=3742233201">here</a>, <a href="https://poshmark.com/listing/Bebe-sleeveless-buttondown-open-drape-back-top-58294620d14d7b498b0a2411?utm_campaign=referral_code%3DBLPJG&utm_content=feature%3Dnw_l%26rfuid%3D546d535ca921af41de01aab3%26post_roll%3Dstitched_v1&utm_source=pi_sh_pub">here</a> (in woven) and <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/350928995947517454/">here</a> (as a dress).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you like it and think it's something you might like to attempt, I'd be happy to share with you how I did it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First, I cut the back pattern piece at the lengthen/shorten line and tilted it away from my fabric fold. The more you tilt, the more fabric there will be to drape, so you can control the drama a bit by tilting it less. Experiment!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bJFWM_Ioo-A/WUvnAkInLTI/AAAAAAAAFqo/hBmTkOQvaREIJCiSr4zB75hLG7R1dvBjwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3634.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bJFWM_Ioo-A/WUvnAkInLTI/AAAAAAAAFqo/hBmTkOQvaREIJCiSr4zB75hLG7R1dvBjwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3634.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I cut it out. Starting at the inside top of the back opening, I created my own new curve all the way to the fold. Again, you could experiment with this. Cut it shallower or deeper for different results.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aT4jW1H5a6k/WUvnAhnMu2I/AAAAAAAAFqg/uOO-VjvBSdclJ3LLsMV5lPuzFyBDudsgQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aT4jW1H5a6k/WUvnAhnMu2I/AAAAAAAAFqg/uOO-VjvBSdclJ3LLsMV5lPuzFyBDudsgQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3635.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At this point, you could follow the directions for the rest of construction, but because the wrong side of my fabric is lighter than the right side and I didn't want it to show when it draped, I decided to cut a facing, which is similar to a lining except it's only partial. For the facing, you just want a duplicate of the top part of the middle back piece. I took the piece I had just cut out and moved it up about 4-5 inches on my fabric.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1f5TJy6vwww/WUvnAnAXz3I/AAAAAAAAFqk/wr1tpj6z9N07P27SEmVpqnAxOAEgVlsPwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3636.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1f5TJy6vwww/WUvnAnAXz3I/AAAAAAAAFqk/wr1tpj6z9N07P27SEmVpqnAxOAEgVlsPwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3636.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I cut out the shape of the back opening again.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_RAycWBKb24/WUvnBpurcNI/AAAAAAAAFqs/vycnlQVikXkaDProog29WXQbMFNgK-kRACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3637.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_RAycWBKb24/WUvnBpurcNI/AAAAAAAAFqs/vycnlQVikXkaDProog29WXQbMFNgK-kRACLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3637.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lbOc0OghINw/WUvpA_QFN0I/AAAAAAAAFq8/5Rt7lQT9v2kHyd577t7WN1Nf6tgx6IBkgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3638.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lbOc0OghINw/WUvpA_QFN0I/AAAAAAAAFq8/5Rt7lQT9v2kHyd577t7WN1Nf6tgx6IBkgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3638.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wRLZMSENrfU/WUvpIXGxVOI/AAAAAAAAFrA/AkOMTaGQBmsM-5pD62fHI9i-xXzN32dIgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3639.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wRLZMSENrfU/WUvpIXGxVOI/AAAAAAAAFrA/AkOMTaGQBmsM-5pD62fHI9i-xXzN32dIgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3639.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now we have a facing for the draped back portion. Sew right sides together along the top and then flip the facing to the inside and press. You can under stitch or top stitch if you think it might be helpful in encouraging the facing to stay inside your shirt.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-29uzbA4_34o/WUvpIgbYLpI/AAAAAAAAFrI/CrOEa-Wp6ZkTApXWI5hvMljZXnZnPPOiQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-29uzbA4_34o/WUvpIgbYLpI/AAAAAAAAFrI/CrOEa-Wp6ZkTApXWI5hvMljZXnZnPPOiQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_3640.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After you attach the yoke, here is what you end up with.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ccKerFRD090/WUvpInxobaI/AAAAAAAAFrE/2Soz4i0IXIsoTtMhPwCZuQtwZgpWqgdLwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3641.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ccKerFRD090/WUvpInxobaI/AAAAAAAAFrE/2Soz4i0IXIsoTtMhPwCZuQtwZgpWqgdLwCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_3641.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KwWJjC8zYJo/WUvpJE2tLyI/AAAAAAAAFrM/MExjk5DsDbUBO1UC4v_HOXfIKBZEw5vvACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3642.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KwWJjC8zYJo/WUvpJE2tLyI/AAAAAAAAFrM/MExjk5DsDbUBO1UC4v_HOXfIKBZEw5vvACLcBGAs/s400/IMG_3642.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The originally drafted back opening allows for wearing a regular bra with no straps showing. (awesome!) With this modification, you could either wear a sticky bra, or something with a strappy or lacy back that's meant to be seen. I thought it would make a trendy yoga top if you made it in some tissue knit or activewear.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Or you could exagerate the drape even more, sew it up in a slinky knit or ITY knit, wear it with a high-waisted pencil skirt and heels and be ready for date night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zJ3y7QCsFQg/WUvj-qVNxyI/AAAAAAAAFqY/LpHdRbjpCd8gz6I59HHav_pdQlG8NhpkQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zJ3y7QCsFQg/WUvj-qVNxyI/AAAAAAAAFqY/LpHdRbjpCd8gz6I59HHav_pdQlG8NhpkQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3675.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One more quick tip: Depending on the drape and weight of your fabric, it may not want to lay perfectly in this beautiful puddle. Mine isn't quite heavy enough to stay like this, so I will be sewing a button or two onto the inside of the facing to give it a bit of weight and keep it puddling nicely.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Sewing!</div>

May 25th - This is a self-drafted dress I based off of a dress already in my closet. I saw this tie dye fabric at JoAnns last year and fell in love instantly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_ehJ7zMI6S0/WUq2lwQpZSI/AAAAAAAAFo0/vtXBjixnmo09tL4ETKXaXNkdw6ea6xV6ACLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1446" data-original-width="1084" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_ehJ7zMI6S0/WUq2lwQpZSI/AAAAAAAAFo0/vtXBjixnmo09tL4ETKXaXNkdw6ea6xV6ACLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender_1.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 26th - same as May 2nd</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xctj5Wu6lW4/WUq2l5FgfhI/AAAAAAAAFo4/oPbZsxlU36gp_hSg_BMtMuB7IPldKbqkgCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xctj5Wu6lW4/WUq2l5FgfhI/AAAAAAAAFo4/oPbZsxlU36gp_hSg_BMtMuB7IPldKbqkgCLcBGAs/s320/FullSizeRender_2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 27th - I decided I wanted a maxi dress with a slit in the front, but I had no pattern. I used a Butterick dress pattern for the bodice and just lengthened the skirt and added a seam down the middle front. I sewed the seam to where I wanted the slit to begin and then sewed down the seam allowance on either side of the slit.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-K0cEBclBLN0/WUq2lxZ_QaI/AAAAAAAAFow/tu7pzr9emvI2l7XbrXKaa1HSYll7B-2pACLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-K0cEBclBLN0/WUq2lxZ_QaI/AAAAAAAAFow/tu7pzr9emvI2l7XbrXKaa1HSYll7B-2pACLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender_3.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wore it to my anniversary date with my hubby. We went to the symphony and then dinner. We didn't get very good pictures of the dress, but we had a very nice time celebrating 12 years of marriage.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BbJUMpu2Gmk/WUq2mzcTA8I/AAAAAAAAFpA/a1cR7A-9Ma8DOaHbGkSJjV8TtelMhdnVgCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1201" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BbJUMpu2Gmk/WUq2mzcTA8I/AAAAAAAAFpA/a1cR7A-9Ma8DOaHbGkSJjV8TtelMhdnVgCLcBGAs/s640/FullSizeRender_4.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 28th - Yet another item that I hardly take out of my closet. I definitely don't wear it in warm weather because I don't like the fabric I chose for the back, so I like to wear it with a cardigan. Fortunately, we had a cool day and I took advantage of it. This is a McCall's pattern I put together with some ITY fabric. It's definitely a unique piece in my closet. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g_nvAFygWQ8/WUq2nLV9BbI/AAAAAAAAFpE/MLJYIl291O4RZDHE6Os2sWIUcHdKgIVQwCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g_nvAFygWQ8/WUq2nLV9BbI/AAAAAAAAFpE/MLJYIl291O4RZDHE6Os2sWIUcHdKgIVQwCLcBGAs/s640/FullSizeRender_5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a little fussy to wear because that front drape opens up all the way to my belly button. I have to pin it closed and keep an eye on it. It's a ton of fabric and feels kinda weird on, but I do like the unique look.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rl6dlS2O2MQ/WUq2mq2Ry6I/AAAAAAAAFo8/AZV72QrNGQkG0RDRNzyNEuVxXoOfL_hCgCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1199" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rl6dlS2O2MQ/WUq2mq2Ry6I/AAAAAAAAFo8/AZV72QrNGQkG0RDRNzyNEuVxXoOfL_hCgCLcBGAs/s400/FullSizeRender_6.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My 29th - Another Target and <a href="http://threadandgrain.com/">Thread and Grain</a> collaboration. It's my new Tango top! I was a ballroom dance instructor for a few years, but don't really get to dance or teach anymore, so I couldn't resist the throwback to a bygone era. It's also kinda like wearing a secret code that only some people would recognize. But now, you are someone who can recognize it if you see it, because now you know that slow, slow, quick, quick, slow is the tempo for the steps to the basic Tango pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ffqLU9AYm7Y/WUq9meGgBwI/AAAAAAAAFpc/i7jG9YwrxBICY7RQbSDJW2E7RFCnNZBxgCLcBGAs/s1600/FullSizeRender-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1201" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ffqLU9AYm7Y/WUq9meGgBwI/AAAAAAAAFpc/i7jG9YwrxBICY7RQbSDJW2E7RFCnNZBxgCLcBGAs/s640/FullSizeRender-4.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But that doesn't really count as a handmade. Here is todays sewn wearable, my headband.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 31st - I bought three iron-ons from Thread and Grain and I saved the best for last. "Fabric is my Love Language." Perfect, right? I put my other two iron-ons on Target tees, but that didn't feel right for this one. I felt like the tee needed to be me made. This is a Riley Blake knit stripe made into a basic tee with a little special treatment on the neckband. I cut the fabric strip diagonally so the stripes would spiral around the neck.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there we have it! Another Me Made May in the books. I think that was my best one so far and I got such a great response on Facebook and it inspired me to get to sewing again and add some things I love to my wardrobe. I might just do it again in September. There was a Self Stitched September one year. I might do my own if no one else starts one this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, I've got more to cut and more to sew and more to plan, so I'd better not waste any time...</div>

May 19th - Leggings I made with a McCalls pattern a loooong time ago and have hardly ever worn. I'm really not a leggings gal. I want to be...seems really convenient. I'm just not. They were definitely comfortable to sit in my car with a cup of coffee while my two-year-old took the rest of a nap he began on the way home.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 20th - I discovered <a href="http://threadandgrain.com/">Thread and Grain</a>, y'all. I had seen Katy's picture around the sewing world as a tester for various patterns, but I didn't know until recently that she had her own sewing and design business. I really want a Cricut or some kind of vinyl cutting device, but until then, a $7 iron-on from Thread and Grain + a $3 clearance Target tee will hold me over pretty nicely. I made the chambray button down from a Lisette pattern.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 21st - I started feeling like I was really running out of things that I wanted to wear. I was longing for my ready-to-wear favorite items and I just couldn't stand it any longer! So I used a me-made clutch as my item and felt like I was cheating, but the truth is, this clutch doesn't get a lot of love and I forgot how much I really like it, so it was great to bring it out again.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern is from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/charliesaunt/items?section_id=7919441">Charlie's Aunt</a>. There are some really unique and innovative bag styles in her shop, although I don't see this one any more. It's the Casablanca Clutch.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 24th - My first try at a Style Arc Pattern. I was on the hunt for a twisty tie-front shirt pattern and really looked everywhere, both indie PDF designers and the Big 4 patterns, and couldn't find one that was what I had in mind. I did come across the <a href="https://www.stylearc.com/shop/pdf-sewing-patterns/dee-knit-top-pdf/">Style Arc Dee Knit Top</a> and eventually came back around to it after seeing some examples sewn up. I had heard not so good things about their directions, but I thought I could probably figure it out. I also saw that it was looking a bit longer than I would like on other ladies, so I shortened it by a few inches.... but it was still another 4-5 inches too long for my taste! Now that I've gotten it the way I like it, I do like the pattern, perfect for thin or drapey knits.</div>

May 14th - We went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for Mother's Day afternoon with my parents. It was beautiful there! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was able to finish yet ANOTHER hack of the Halla Slim Dolman pattern, right before we went. This time, I shortened even the short dolman sleeves of the pattern and I also made the bottom of the skirt more of a pencil skirt shape. Not too body-con, though. I feel like the tighter, the more formal and I wanted something pretty, but casual.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 15th- This is a maternity shirt I made back when I was early on in my pregnancy with my now two-year-old. It's made from the same ITY as the dress from May </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cEWlV6LXhQQ/WS83GG6_J_I/AAAAAAAAFl8/iw5MtbrJbYIWhjLhWO8RDrJmXwPuM1O8ACLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1099" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cEWlV6LXhQQ/WS83GG6_J_I/AAAAAAAAFl8/iw5MtbrJbYIWhjLhWO8RDrJmXwPuM1O8ACLcB/s640/FullSizeRender_1.jpg" width="436" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
May 16th - a tank I made long ago that's really too tight in the armpits and a little shorter than I would like. I never wear it, but I wore it as a lounge-around shirt on this day.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 17th- This is a Ki-ba-doo Raglan in a draped and soft bamboo lycra. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And these are the nails I had for Mother's Day that just happened to go perfectly with this shirt a few days later. :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 18th - My first day of Classical Conversations Parent Practicum 2017. Classical Conversations is the program we use to homeschool. Every summer, there are free 3-day events called practicum that teach parents the background and workings of the curriculum as well as training the tutors that share the curriculum with the kids throughout the school year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a <a href="https://www.hallapatterns.com/products/halla-stardust-tank-top-women">Halla Stardust tank</a> with no star and got lots of compliments. Again, I'm stealing fabric intended for my children...</div>

May 10 - My photographer was playing upstairs and I didn't want to bother her, so, since I've <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2017/04/simplicity-1916.html">blogged this top</a> before, this is what you get to prove I wore it on the 10th.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
May 11 - This is my Easter dress <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-conclusion-of-easter-sewing.html">from a few years ago</a> that never ever was worn again. I was going through my closet and cleaning out unworn items and decided to try to give this a second chance by shortening it to a blouse length.</div>

I bought the <a href="https://streetstylepatterns.com/">Street Style Patterns </a>Draped Cardigan and also picked up the free leggings. I haven't tried the leggings, but I did try the cardigan with some mystery (sweater knit?) fabric that was in my stash from a bargain table several years ago in DC.<br />
You should go check out the website to better see the seam lines of this cool pattern. It looks like it would be more challenging, but, other than cutting out more pieces, it's not really any more challenging than any other cardigan pattern I've tried.<br />
<br />

May 9th, I wore a knit maxi dress that I made years ago (originally blogged <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2013/07/watercolor-strip-maxi.html">here</a>). It sees my closet lights more than the light of day and I'm so glad Me Made May encouraged me to bring it back out again. I felt a bit overdressed at the playground, but definitely comfortable.</div>

May 1st</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm kicking off this May with a brand new make in a different city. My family lives in Atlanta, but my husband and I went on a trip to New Orleans for a few days and I packed my Me-Mades so I would be ready! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the <a href="https://indiesew.com/products/blue-dot-patterns-margo-blouse#product">Margo Blouse from Blue Dot Patterns</a>. I cut the size according to my measurements, but I will probably cut one size larger if I do it in woven again. It's a bit tight across my upper chest and under my armpits. I made it from a mystery lightweight woven I got in DC a few years ago. Probably a cotton lawn?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PjJZFZrwil8/WRHEkK16bVI/AAAAAAAAFi4/2zukigbTXtsfmbav5EbhcCFJpnASgjufQCEw/s1600/FullSizeRender_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PjJZFZrwil8/WRHEkK16bVI/AAAAAAAAFi4/2zukigbTXtsfmbav5EbhcCFJpnASgjufQCEw/s400/FullSizeRender_3.jpg" width="253" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Beignets at Cafe Du Monde was a lovely start to my day.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eRyTcrE8C9E/WRHEkrq4FsI/AAAAAAAAFi4/s6Onh83yMUEZedMtDmD3E5F6qhpXt8xtQCEw/s1600/IMG_2763.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eRyTcrE8C9E/WRHEkrq4FsI/AAAAAAAAFi4/s6Onh83yMUEZedMtDmD3E5F6qhpXt8xtQCEw/s320/IMG_2763.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Later, in the evening, we went to Brennan's and had a delicious meal topped of with Bananas Foster flambéd talbe-side. Brennan's <a href="http://www.brennansneworleans.com/about-bananas-foster.php">claims to be the original inventor</a> of this dessert.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used an ITY knit, also waiting in my stash for several years from a DC purchase, to make this pleated sheath. Super duper win on this one, because, even though hubby knew it was Me Made May, he totally didn't know this wasn't store-bought. When I put it on in the hotel before dinner, he commented that he hadn't seen it before and really liked it. Then I had him cut a brown thread off and mentioned I should have used black and he looked astonished. "Wait, you MADE that!?"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pretty awesome coming from someone who knows I make a bunch of stuff.</div>

May 2nd</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the <a href="https://www.hallapatterns.com/products/slim-dolman-for-women">Halla Slim Dolman</a> in double brushed poly from <a href="http://www.loveadoreco.com/category/double-brushed-poly-print">Love Adore</a>. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the evening, we rode the trolley down to Mr. B's for dinner and I wore a Butterick pattern dress made from some ITY knit</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This second photo, I took to show the wrap detail on the bodice, but it shows off my new favorite necklace, too. It's Lucky Brand, which I'm starting to really love. Brighton used to be my favorite jewelry brand, but Lucky Brand is right up there with them now.</div>

May 3rd</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just some knit pj pants today. No pattern. I traced around a pair of lounge pants I have owned since college. (full disclosure: I decided soon after this photo that it was going to be too hot to sleep in these, but hey, I did wear them for a minute.)</div>

May 4th</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before I headed to the airport to travel back home to Atlanta, I had my husband snap a quick shot of me in the hotel. I made these chambray, elastic waist, lace-trimmed, wide-leg pants several years ago based on a pair of wide-leg linen pants from Anthropologie. I don't wear them much... but that's part of the charm of Me Made May. Now that I'm trying to wear a Me Made every day, I'm forced to pull things out that I don't often reach for.</div>

I am about to start a protein rich diet with lots and lots of water drinking to regain some of the figure I have lost over the past several months (and added a few more pounds to in New Orleans). I joined several fabric selling groups on Facebook last year, but didn't buy much aside from things for our Disney trip. This year, I have discovered a couple of more affordable options and have been very pleased with the quality and designs so far. One of these options is Love Adore Knits. I bought a yard of <a href="http://www.loveadoreco.com/product/double-brushed-polyester-spandex-print-amelie-dusk">this floral</a> and a yard of <a href="http://www.loveadoreco.com/product/double-brushed-polyester-spandex-print-stripes-charcoal">this stripe</a> and have made six pieces of clothing out of those two yards so far!<br />
I have three of them to show you today.<br />
<br />
Mine first. (Sewing room selfie, here. Unless I get my husband involved as photographer, selfies are going to be par for the course for the foreseeable future of the blog.) This is another Halla Slim Dolman. I'm voting this Most Useful Pattern in my stash at the moment. I've made a dress, this tee and I just made a third version with ruffled sleeves which you will see as part of upcoming Me Made May posts.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is a basic tee for my oldest daughter that I had to modify with a triangular piece in the front because I chose too small of a size and it was too tight. Then I added the little bows because the edges of the fabric curled up into these tight rolls when I cut into it. They weren't long enough to be saved for a drawstring, so I decided on bows.</div>

I have two favorite shirts from Target that are faux wrap t-shirts. I've had them for at least 9 or 10 years and I finally decided if I can love something that long, I might need more. When I received my amazingly vibrant knit from Opulent Monsters (<a href="http://opulentmonsters.com/sunset-sea/">available here</a>), I knew I wanted to make something special that would get a lot of wear and see more than just my closet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started looking at all the Simplicity and Vogue and McCalls new Spring releases, hoping to find the perfect knit wrap top pattern, but all to no avail. Lo and behold, when tidying my sewing room (which I almost never do), I came across Simplicity 1916, already cut to my size and ready to go. I honestly can't even remember purchasing this pattern, much less cutting it! I usually don't cut a pattern size from the tissue unless I've got the fabric and I'm ready to sew it, but I really don't think I ever sewed this one up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MuY0BMtpoDQ/WPpj80u9K9I/AAAAAAAAFe4/sZAomUPSEWUDKK96dc9yc7OL7-irfI5ngCLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MuY0BMtpoDQ/WPpj80u9K9I/AAAAAAAAFe4/sZAomUPSEWUDKK96dc9yc7OL7-irfI5ngCLcB/s400/FullSizeRender_2.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Little did my past self know that she was doing my future self a great service since I have very little extra time these days. It was meant to be.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sy7wCEfMgBk/WPpj9UyVfZI/AAAAAAAAFfE/jY0N7nAj6GwqerJUP0XI-bUCNfq7TRD4QCLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sy7wCEfMgBk/WPpj9UyVfZI/AAAAAAAAFfE/jY0N7nAj6GwqerJUP0XI-bUCNfq7TRD4QCLcB/s400/FullSizeRender_3.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was pretty concerned that I had sewn the two crossing pieces of the shirt in a mismatched way after I finished because the shirt will not lay flat. It looks completely distorted on a hanger or on the floor, but once it stretches over my body, all is well.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ndw0rD6oq6Y/WPpj9UubcdI/AAAAAAAAFfM/JENDzkICHoQ7pMDA1dkJqa-FCHtrMPUMQCLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ndw0rD6oq6Y/WPpj9UubcdI/AAAAAAAAFfM/JENDzkICHoQ7pMDA1dkJqa-FCHtrMPUMQCLcB/s640/FullSizeRender_4.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I could do without the little detail on the side. I'm pretty sure it's not even noticeable when I'm wearing the shirt. It doesn't add that much time or extra difficulty to the pattern, though, so I don't have to be mad at anyone for not noticing. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BYYjiyr2enU/WPpj9VInmRI/AAAAAAAAFfI/TJvbu_KES98Tz73gKeMse1LfsWzSW0qogCLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BYYjiyr2enU/WPpj9VInmRI/AAAAAAAAFfI/TJvbu_KES98Tz73gKeMse1LfsWzSW0qogCLcB/s400/FullSizeRender_5.jpg" width="282" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This fabric is not a lightweight, drapey knit, so the two layers on the front with all the gathers feels pretty thick and a bit stiff, but I like that it masks my three-baby pooch. This would be a great pattern to use those thinner, cheap knits on that don't really seem to be good for much else. In fact, I might venture to buy the next cute, lightweight, $5 a yard knit that strikes my fancy since I have a pattern that could make it look good.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I LOVE nail polish and I paint my nails almost once a week, sometimes more often. This past Christmas, I asked my husband for nail polish. That's it. Specifically, nail polish from KB Shimmer. I picked 6 or 7 polishes and I haven't been disappointed in any of them. This one is called Neon Me and you can find it <a href="https://www.kbshimmer.com/neon-me/">here</a>. Go look at the pictures on the KB Shimmer website. So. Pretty. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Aren't these fabrics adorable?! A few months ago (all of the last several posts are saying "a few months ago" aren't they? sigh. That won't keep happening once I catch you up to the present. It's coming. Hang in there.) I discovered <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/rockerbyedestash">Rocker Bye Destash</a> custom fabric designs. She does some really adorable artwork and definitely has her own style that looks different from all the other custom fabrics out there right now.<br />
A size 2-3 seems to be just about the perfect size to fit a whole panel design on a shirt front, without having to piece fabrics and without cutting off any of the panel design, so I'm using them while they are easy to use.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here, as promised, is my little mister's first honest-to-goodness attempt at modeling the clothing I made for him. His tennis ball is keeping him sane and he actually followed directions and stood how I asked him to and where I asked him to. I was really surprised.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He had his new kicks on and he seemed to know he was lookin' good.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a pant pattern from an Ottobre Magazine and the shirt is the plainest version ever of the <a href="https://www.hallapatterns.com/products/halla-stardust-shirt">Halla Stardust Shirt</a> pattern. That pattern has a cool star-shaped inset on the front which I used several times for shirts for our Disney trip, but eliminated for this basic tee.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The only complaint I have is that I didn't have my nice camera with me, so the photo quality isn't as good as it could have been, but I was pleased none the less.</div>

Just a couple notes today about a few things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Back in February, I made special dresses for the girls to wear to daddy daughter date night at </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Chick-fil-a.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the Hourglass pattern by Rabbit Rabbit Creation and I let the girls pick out all the fabrics, which are a combination of some I already had and some we bought at Hobby Lobby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oTdUAhuShS8/WO5hOT_1K2I/AAAAAAAAFbw/JVHqEX8IfHgABrCtL3H9V69SWGgG_U5pgCLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oTdUAhuShS8/WO5hOT_1K2I/AAAAAAAAFbw/JVHqEX8IfHgABrCtL3H9V69SWGgG_U5pgCLcB/s400/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iRm2gxJmXec/WO5hOSwgg_I/AAAAAAAAFb0/BI9FVbrI41IxVcHV17GIuVkfbXzPNiNvQCLcB/s1600/IMG_2208.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iRm2gxJmXec/WO5hOSwgg_I/AAAAAAAAFb0/BI9FVbrI41IxVcHV17GIuVkfbXzPNiNvQCLcB/s400/IMG_2208.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also in February, I made myself a knit dress using the Halla Slim Dolman shirt pattern. I don't really like the batwing look of dolman shirts, but this slim version eliminates most of the batwing action, so it's just my style. It's a satisfying, super-quick make with only 5 pieces to cut and 9 seams sew.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eqvqp_ZeNvQ/WO5hO4N4ZZI/AAAAAAAAFcA/Ia7nGNmy-qAKlKciQ0jjUN9-oVz1hWtZACLcB/s1600/IMG_2244.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eqvqp_ZeNvQ/WO5hO4N4ZZI/AAAAAAAAFcA/Ia7nGNmy-qAKlKciQ0jjUN9-oVz1hWtZACLcB/s400/IMG_2244.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Panels have gotten easier to use now that he's bigger, but not too big for the panel to act as the front or back of a shirt. He likes owls and hubby likes Dr. Who, so it was a fun panel choice.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SO-hZDudTC0/WO5hVJ4ms3I/AAAAAAAAFco/zDrH0ikbe3IqzWbnQ7lhs_7NqbgPNdWHgCLcB/s1600/IMG_2394.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SO-hZDudTC0/WO5hVJ4ms3I/AAAAAAAAFco/zDrH0ikbe3IqzWbnQ7lhs_7NqbgPNdWHgCLcB/s400/IMG_2394.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
iPhone quality photos are not helping you out, but each little owl in the tree has a different accessory to represent the different Doctors. :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AfDOoPxG6cM/WO5hVL7K41I/AAAAAAAAFck/VFmZoQjqOy0DsKIyW16Jqy2X0sqM8b2GgCLcB/s1600/IMG_2400.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AfDOoPxG6cM/WO5hVL7K41I/AAAAAAAAFck/VFmZoQjqOy0DsKIyW16Jqy2X0sqM8b2GgCLcB/s640/IMG_2400.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next time, I'll show you this little stinker's first decent modeling session with Mommy-made duds.</div>

Many, many months ago, I discovered some pairs of designer jeans at Goodwill for only a few dollars a piece. I bought them without trying them on and found them to be too tight when I got home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After a few months and a fitness challenge and diet change I tried, I did actually get slim enough to fit into them, but then discovered that they weren't really the right shape for my body anyway, a typical problem I have when pant shopping. I then put them in a pile in my sewing room of garments that I hope to eventually reuse for projects. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Most of the garments in that pile don't actually get used, but I was inspired to use the Queenie pattern by Farbenmix to make my girl a new pair of jeans after she outgrew some. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The denim color mixing was not planned, but it turned out that there wasn't enough space available on one pair of jeans to cut out all the pieces needed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She loves them!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really enjoy the fit and shape of Euro patterns (like Farbenmix) and have some of my best looking sewing results with them. You should try some if you haven't before.</div>

In my last post, I told you I got my hair cut a little shorter and colored it back to red. Some variation of this is how I've been wearing it from then, which was in the fall of last year, until now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9_wB2MVSqU/WOfVDYAWprI/AAAAAAAAFaI/X7urEG3lBZEng5cHEqtZ24L9GhZbVMeXACLcB/s1600/IMG_1303.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9_wB2MVSqU/WOfVDYAWprI/AAAAAAAAFaI/X7urEG3lBZEng5cHEqtZ24L9GhZbVMeXACLcB/s400/IMG_1303.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In between then and now, we went on another Disney vacation and, since I made all the clothes we packed for the girls the first time around, I felt I needed to make it a tradition. Here is the sewing I completed for the trip this time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For my older daughter and myself:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ygwaXC8Um9I/WOfUqzTZwOI/AAAAAAAAFZ4/T2LZ6WHzpHU-fq-4xy37pW9bZ1kHvP5YgCLcB/s1600/IMG_1647.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ygwaXC8Um9I/WOfUqzTZwOI/AAAAAAAAFZ4/T2LZ6WHzpHU-fq-4xy37pW9bZ1kHvP5YgCLcB/s400/IMG_1647.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For myself and the little boy:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nE0iX368c7A/WOfUq8iuCAI/AAAAAAAAFZ0/O-Pd5HNH-8gBTi9hulnexnVZyC2Ta6IXACLcB/s1600/IMG_1648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nE0iX368c7A/WOfUq8iuCAI/AAAAAAAAFZ0/O-Pd5HNH-8gBTi9hulnexnVZyC2Ta6IXACLcB/s400/IMG_1648.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did one of these for each girl.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bftXGs6vAVw/WOfUrAHwOAI/AAAAAAAAFZ8/WcIJIvChSis7eLeVHvP_er31vCN3_ix1QCLcB/s1600/IMG_1649.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bftXGs6vAVw/WOfUrAHwOAI/AAAAAAAAFZ8/WcIJIvChSis7eLeVHvP_er31vCN3_ix1QCLcB/s320/IMG_1649.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my favorites was this "mine" shirt and we just had to get a picture in front of the seagulls outside the Nemo ride.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xK84d3ByIWQ/WOfUrtFiq9I/AAAAAAAAFaA/dSSThSd_A9Ij4STFzmNd39OGNWS16YdCQCLcB/s1600/IMG_1723.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xK84d3ByIWQ/WOfUrtFiq9I/AAAAAAAAFaA/dSSThSd_A9Ij4STFzmNd39OGNWS16YdCQCLcB/s640/IMG_1723.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These skirts were fun and colorful and comfortable. A win all around.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the few completely coordinated sets I made. The fabric is "It's a Small World" theme.</div>

I included this one because there's another little me-made in here that I don't have another picture of. It wasn't made for Disney, but its her favorite, so she brought it. It's the fleece University of Georgia jacket my younger daughter is wearing. I haven't made jackets for my kids before, but following Brindille and Twigs pattern made it pretty easy and the results were great. </div>

<br />
I stumbled onto the <a href="http://www.straightstitchdesigns.com/sew-the-year/">Sew The Year</a> challenge over at Straight Stitch Designs and I think I might join once I'm done with all of these posts to get you back up to speed on my sewing projects.<br />
<br />
I can go ahead and give away a couple of things that are up my sleeve. I have lavender stretch denim on it's way in the mail with the hope of making some jeans from Mimi G's Simplicity pattern. eep!<br />
AAAaaaaand, I want to tackle swimwear again. I tried it two summers ago and never ended up with a suit I loved. I'm hoping this will be the summer I have success with swimwear.<br />
<br />
I need lots of fingers crossed for both the jeans and the swim suit.<br />

Last Summer, I decided I would tackle swimsuits. I made swim bottoms for my girls using an underwear pattern and I made rash guards using a free raglan shirt pattern. I wasn't super-thrilled with the results, but the girls liked them and they didn't fall apart in the pool, so, good enough for starters. The only one wearing her Mommy-made suit in this picture is the one on the right.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another scrap of Euro fabric leftover from a previous project was the perfect amount for this top using a dress pattern from LilyGiggle. The curved band across the front and back are supposed to be interfaced, but I was lazy and skipped that step. Well, it only got through about three washes before it was deformed, so I'm glad I happened to get a picture the first time she wore it.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am slowly starting to recognize that different weights and drapes of knits are more or less suitable for certain patterns. It's taken me long enough, right?! I've only been sewing for, like 5 years and I'm just now learning this. So I used some bamboo cotton knit in grey with another soft, drapey, mystery knit scrap for the sleeves to make my new favorite v-neck raglan. I didn't make it skin-tight, for once, and it's something I've been wearing just as much as any of my RTW tees, which has never really happened before now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This superhero knit is so squishy and soft. I'm so glad I have plenty more of this left in my stash. I think the print is definitely something that I can make a new item from each time he grows out of the last one, without fear of him disliking it. Superheros are a classic.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mentioned two posts ago that I was loving my pink hair but that maintaining it was costly and time consuming. I had already decided before I even bleached it and colored it pink that I would only keep it a few months and then chop it off. Here it is after the chop! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I told my stylist she could do whatever she wanted with it and I felt SO not myself after this. Like I was pretending to be that girl that can rock a pink crazy pixie cut...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but I was feeling mostly like a clown.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ended up dying it back to red and also getting my stylist to trim it a little shorter, but I did learn to love wearing it swooped up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'll show you that next time.</div>

Here is a slightly better photo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vN-pQPc6xvs/WORRw8xeUsI/AAAAAAAAFXw/6QYGREsVfeIV9I4KThQEolbFHusM_qdDACLcB/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vN-pQPc6xvs/WORRw8xeUsI/AAAAAAAAFXw/6QYGREsVfeIV9I4KThQEolbFHusM_qdDACLcB/s400/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pq4WBQwQBrA/WORS-x81K1I/AAAAAAAAFX4/SXuZJZBLkBA9h7E3Y76AOpW8pgLPRM-qACLcB/s1600/IMG_9968.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pq4WBQwQBrA/WORS-x81K1I/AAAAAAAAFX4/SXuZJZBLkBA9h7E3Y76AOpW8pgLPRM-qACLcB/s640/IMG_9968.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm not sure what caught my attention and made me look away from the camera, but something must have. I hemmed that dress to be floor length even when wearing my platform 6" heels and I really need to hem it again and make it shorter so that I can wear it with flats. Otherwise, it will continue to live in my closet where it has stayed since last Easter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm going to take a few blog posts to chronicle more of the sewing that I've been doing, but I don't see myself being able to do anything like what I used to do. I used to set up the tripod with the nice camera, take 25 photos, upload them, edit them and then write a detailed post about the pattern. HA! No way I can do that anymore with my little boy running around getting into everything. So, iPhone action shots, probably unedited, are what you should expect for a while.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are a couple of shots from the mall playground of a cute little Mario-themed set I made.</div>

Action shots are par for the course for this guy who hardly stops moving.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, for today, I'll leave you with another not-very-good-photo of a dress that I copied as best I could from one of my favorite ready to wear dresses. I saw this fabric at JoAnns and reeeeeally wanted something made from it. I guess I thought hacking my own made-up pattern out of it was a better idea than using a pattern I already had. It worked out mostly ok. It's a little tight in the thigh/hip area and I have to walk with a bit smaller stride than normal. I'll probably add a slit in the side for wear this summer. Maybe I can come back to this one after my alteration and get some better photos, but I'm not promising anything.</div>

I haven't been sewing nearly as much as I used to be able to, but if I do get time to sew AND take some photos, I definitely don't seem to have the time to blog about my process, fabrics, pattern and such. I'm sad that I can't do what I used to, but this little boy has made everything more challenging... and more wonderful.<br />
<br />
This is the Tie Dye Diva Janie and Jack pattern. It's an adorable little pattern with a lined bodice and instructions for a snap crotch, which I decided to forgo. I added a bow tie to try to make it more boyish. He's just so pretty, it's not totally clear that he's a boy to all his public admirers.<br />

<br />
For our obligatory family beach photo in Destin, I sewed my shirt using the Grainline Tee pattern and I made the girls dresses from three different rayon prints I found at Hancock Fabrics (RIP) and used a combo of the Rabbit Rabbit Hummingbird dress bodice and the skirt from Annabelle by Violette Field Threads.<br />

This is the OZ romper from Ellidactyl. I made 2, but my snap process is not going well. I can get them in, but then they keep getting pulled out in use. I've stayed away from snaps for a while since I made this.</div>

This is the most involved thing I've made for me since my boy was born. It's my Easter dress. I chose this beautiful rayon print from JoAnn's and used a Cynthia Rowley pattern from Simplicity (1801).</div>

I'll try to do another catch-up post soon.</div>

First, this happened.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZbQ05yxWcvg/VUtt0BnXCgI/AAAAAAAAEZ4/5EbTY00_WQM/s1600/Photo%2Bon%2B8-26-14%2Bat%2B2.04%2BPM%2B%232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZbQ05yxWcvg/VUtt0BnXCgI/AAAAAAAAEZ4/5EbTY00_WQM/s320/Photo%2Bon%2B8-26-14%2Bat%2B2.04%2BPM%2B%232.jpg" width="228" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZbQ05yxWcvg/VUtt0BnXCgI/AAAAAAAAEZ4/5EbTY00_WQM/s1600/Photo%2Bon%2B8-26-14%2Bat%2B2.04%2BPM%2B%232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZbQ05yxWcvg/VUtt0BnXCgI/AAAAAAAAEZ4/5EbTY00_WQM/s1600/Photo%2Bon%2B8-26-14%2Bat%2B2.04%2BPM%2B%232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
So I bought the Megan Nielson maternity tee shirt pattern and made three or four.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, this happened. (This is our new house.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x0zp9VferxM/VUttocJaxdI/AAAAAAAAEZ0/B-3Lq_eRh9Q/s1600/l2ff2c144-m0o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x0zp9VferxM/VUttocJaxdI/AAAAAAAAEZ0/B-3Lq_eRh9Q/s320/l2ff2c144-m0o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, this happened...and we had a blast, but I was a little out of my mind to do Disney while very pregnant.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-11r3Q4Dvmnk/VUtySFPWCjI/AAAAAAAAEa0/1n3e3CoRKRw/s1600/IMG_0257.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-11r3Q4Dvmnk/VUtySFPWCjI/AAAAAAAAEa0/1n3e3CoRKRw/s320/IMG_0257.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I made the girls something to wear for every day we were there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YGVFBXjHAhQ/VUtufjpkefI/AAAAAAAAEaI/luFv8sbF1q0/s1600/IMG_7606.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YGVFBXjHAhQ/VUtufjpkefI/AAAAAAAAEaI/luFv8sbF1q0/s320/IMG_7606.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g8WoHU9XpZY/VUtvPHq4-CI/AAAAAAAAEaY/QIRkNi0iE68/s1600/IMG_1887.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g8WoHU9XpZY/VUtvPHq4-CI/AAAAAAAAEaY/QIRkNi0iE68/s320/IMG_1887.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here I am, nine months pregnant, with the newly painted nursery wall as a backdrop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LhcxL2_sFZo/VUtt8X08u0I/AAAAAAAAEaA/bLic68Qq1O8/s1600/DSC07627.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LhcxL2_sFZo/VUtt8X08u0I/AAAAAAAAEaA/bLic68Qq1O8/s320/DSC07627.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
he happened. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and I got to sew my first coordinating outfits for my girls and my boy.</div>

I ran out of steam on the blogging end of things... sorry. I kinda figured that would happen. So here we are, mid-June and I'm finally throwing up some quick photos just to prove that I did indeed continue to wear me-mades in May after the 18th (which is where my last post left off)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Some days, were repeats of previously worn items and some days, my only me-made was my bag.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Day 16 - This was a themed Friday over in the Flickr group and the theme was "Too Pretty To Wear Pants" after a commenter in a previous Me Made month made that comment about one of the participants. So it is a bit of an inside joke to the Me Made Flickr group. <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;">I wore a maxi dress made by altering McCalls 6559 a bit and carried my Gretelies Josipa bag. Day 17 - I wore my denim knit leggings that took me from lounging/sewing during the day to attending my husband's grandma's birthday dinner in the evening.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nAnCgv_4gKM/U3lirYxKC0I/AAAAAAAAD-M/y-xyszVxqKk/s1600/photo+2-25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nAnCgv_4gKM/U3lirYxKC0I/AAAAAAAAD-M/y-xyszVxqKk/s1600/photo+2-25.jpg" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 18 - I carried my Josipa bag again today that you saw up there with my maxi dress and that is the only me-made I can claim for this day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Random highlights of today - </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I got two pairs of <a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=9528920320004&cid=1013033">denim shorts at Old Navy</a> today that I love the fit and the look of. When I can buy something I love for less than the cost of the materials to sew something similar (not to mention I am not even ready to sew jean shorts with rivets and such) I definitely have no regrets buying it. I am grateful for sales and getting two pairs of shorts for $25 makes me very happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We went to the High Museum of Art for a members only preview of their latest exhibit, Dream Cars, and saw the neatest thing!</div>

Back again with another Me Made May encapsulated update to try to get up to speed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 9 - My husband took my girls and I to breakfast. You may be able to tell in the picture that I am still bleary-eyed and have not yet had my first cup of coffee. It was a Friday challenge day and the theme was "blue" (Every Friday on the MMM Flickr group, there is a theme.) so I wore my Colette Clovers made from turquoise bengaline stretch material. I had to take them off soon after we got home because they were not stretchy enough to adjust to the big breakfast I ate!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Etj8eUCe4c4/U3alzVzDifI/AAAAAAAAD9Q/khpeJPfxKzU/s1600/photo-315.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Etj8eUCe4c4/U3alzVzDifI/AAAAAAAAD9Q/khpeJPfxKzU/s1600/photo-315.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 10 - Oops... I somehow lost track of this day and don't know now what I wore.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 11 - Mother's Day! We went to church and then had a lovely buffet lunch at the country club my husband's grandparents belong to. I wore McCalls 2187, not fully blogged, but pictured and mentioned <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2013/05/sis-boom-jamie-dress-made-two-summers.html">here</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NBakiyzjyWE/U3an61XAWYI/AAAAAAAAD9g/5zghAkVlsJI/s1600/DSC_7046.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NBakiyzjyWE/U3an61XAWYI/AAAAAAAAD9g/5zghAkVlsJI/s1600/DSC_7046.jpg" height="640" width="422" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 12 - My underwear was my me made of the day. It's from when I tested the Jocole Ladies Basic Brief Bottoms, which are easy to sew, but anything but a basic pattern. With a million and one variations of leg openings and waist heights and even a ruched butt option, these are the only panty pattern you may ever need to try. I won't post a pic, but you can find my tester picture (pink and red fox panties) at the bottom of <a href="http://www.jocole.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_27&products_id=134">this page</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 13 - We went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and I tried out a bit of a mixed up style with shorts and a 3/4 sleeve cowl made from the Sewaholic Renfrew pattern. Preppy spring? I dunno. I carried my Handmade Therapy Satchel and wore my favorite Crocs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zyr_8Qcg6ts/U3alzQw_EsI/AAAAAAAAD9Y/aFtKpEFmiKM/s1600/photo-316.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zyr_8Qcg6ts/U3alzQw_EsI/AAAAAAAAD9Y/aFtKpEFmiKM/s1600/photo-316.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>

I won't hit you with 10 at once, so we'll just look at days 4-8 today, k?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 4 - This was the first time out for <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2014/01/mccalls-6841.html">McCalls 6841</a>. I figured out a way to style it with a tank top under and a cardigan over. I was pretty pleased with that look, but I hate to only be able to wear it in cool weather. We'll see.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ig1ysNENRXw/U3T3uMAGmGI/AAAAAAAAD8s/jVSpxBEtAKE/s1600/photo-313.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ig1ysNENRXw/U3T3uMAGmGI/AAAAAAAAD8s/jVSpxBEtAKE/s1600/photo-313.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 5 - I used the Ki ba doo Raglan pattern and some euro clouds to make a fun tee.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vei8vZJpuvE/U3T3tk3p_bI/AAAAAAAAD80/95Hmu2XhkqM/s1600/photo+2-22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vei8vZJpuvE/U3T3tk3p_bI/AAAAAAAAD80/95Hmu2XhkqM/s1600/photo+2-22.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p1sYnbh8rLw/U3T3tJVqjAI/AAAAAAAAD8g/jEX3JNmQuno/s1600/photo+3-20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p1sYnbh8rLw/U3T3tJVqjAI/AAAAAAAAD8g/jEX3JNmQuno/s1600/photo+3-20.jpg" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 6 - My only me-made on the 6th was my <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-satchel-bag-by-handmade-therapy.html">Handmade Therapy Satchel Bag</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day 7 - My <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2014/05/piko-top.html">Piko top</a> that I made because of all the patterns I was sewing while promoting the Sew Fab sale. I've worn it twice now. It's very easy to wear and nice and cool on hot days. This was a good make and a great way to finally use this fabric leftover from my <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2013/10/theres-no-saving-it.html">wadder</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dy7lL-k3tzg/U3T3tefg3QI/AAAAAAAAD8k/c5FVQv4Q8XY/s1600/photo+1-23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dy7lL-k3tzg/U3T3tefg3QI/AAAAAAAAD8k/c5FVQv4Q8XY/s1600/photo+1-23.jpg" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
and Day 8 I didn't wear anything me-made except when taking photos for my <a href="http://theprettypickle.blogspot.com/2014/05/papercut-patterns-rigel-bomber.html">Rigel Bomber post</a>...so I'm counting that. <br />
<br />
I've sewn about 6 items for me already this month, which is awesome, even though that wasn't part of my pledge. I'll be back another day with another update!<br />
<br />
<br />Sarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03904354016998544042noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3798546913001056141.post-42857162655665776562014-05-09T05:56:00.002-07:002014-05-09T05:59:30.185-07:00Papercut Patterns Rigel BomberWow, you guys! Just wow. After my recent tear-inducing faliure trying to make coats for my girls for Easter, I was really nervous about the pattern I chose about a month ago for my guest spot on the Pattern Revolution blog.<br />
I was honored to be invited to do a post in the Runway Deconstructed theme. My partner, Teronia, and I put our heads together and chose the polka dot as our fave runway trend. Then it was time to choose a pattern.<br />
I bet you've seen some of the many examples of <a href="http://papercutpatterns.com/">Papercut Patterns</a> Rigel Bombers out there, but if not, take a look <a href="http://lilysageandco.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-rigel-floral-bomber.html">here</a>, <a href="http://www.shanniloves.com/2014/04/it-was-just-another-night-with-sun-set.html">here</a>, and <a href="http://cirque-du-bebe.blogspot.com/2013/11/scandinavian-style-sewing-series.html">here</a>. There are so many more pretty ones out there and I really wanted to try my hand at it.<br />
Papercut Patterns graciously donated the Rigel pattern when Robin of Pattern Revolution asked them if she could feature it on the blog.<br />
So here is how it looked when I opened my package all the way from Australia.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_XPhIqHlQ6E/U2zJ0znkdAI/AAAAAAAAD64/ru6pxEusfAo/s1600/photo+1-24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_XPhIqHlQ6E/U2zJ0znkdAI/AAAAAAAAD64/ru6pxEusfAo/s1600/photo+1-24.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
That folded paper is like a brown paper bag and not the lightweight tissue you often find in paper patterns. I have mixed feelings about that because tissue is easier for me to pin to fabrics and plays nicer with slippery fabrics, but this brown paper is heartier and will last through many makes. <br />
A look inside...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_ws_UQ-7Ty0/U2zKb5yjzjI/AAAAAAAAD7A/pE4rpQxg6aA/s1600/photo+2-24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_ws_UQ-7Ty0/U2zKb5yjzjI/AAAAAAAAD7A/pE4rpQxg6aA/s1600/photo+2-24.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And once I got all my pattern pieces cut out...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-29OUMWocArk/U2zKk8wlDoI/AAAAAAAAD7I/jFmXlpvjFaA/s1600/photo+3-22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-29OUMWocArk/U2zKk8wlDoI/AAAAAAAAD7I/jFmXlpvjFaA/s1600/photo+3-22.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you did not come here from the Pattern Revolution blog, you can read more about my fabric choice and see photos of the finished jacket in the<a href="http://patternrevolution.com/blog/2014/5/9/runway-deconstructed"> Runway Deconstructed</a> post.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you have come to The Pretty Pickle from Pattern Revolution, you can read on for some behind-the-scenes details I didn't have room to share over there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once I cut out my fabric, which included cutting pieces for a lining which I wasn't sure I was going to be brave enough to tackle, I started going through the steps in my folded booklet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(Quick side note: The only modification I made when cutting pieces was to cut a few inches extra length on the sleeves after reading several reviews that they ran short.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I struggled a bit with piecing the sleeves together, mainly because I had neglected to clip my edges to mark the pieces properly according to the pattern. When you have three different sized triangles in front of you and have to put them together like a puzzle to form a new shape, it's a little hard without the pattern markings.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also wanted to make sure I did two of the three triangles with the fabric wrong-side out to play with the shiny and dull sides of the fabric and highlight the shapes of the pieces. You can see how it works a bit in this picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2PU1oD0nr10/U2zMOvfsKlI/AAAAAAAAD7U/tX9om2kkwo0/s1600/DSC_7044.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2PU1oD0nr10/U2zMOvfsKlI/AAAAAAAAD7U/tX9om2kkwo0/s1600/DSC_7044.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I got to step 5, the welt pockets, and then I chickened out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-069JTT-TI38/U2zMeVkfwPI/AAAAAAAAD7c/yypVjIh5KaU/s1600/photo+4-15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-069JTT-TI38/U2zMeVkfwPI/AAAAAAAAD7c/yypVjIh5KaU/s1600/photo+4-15.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I slept on it and came back with new determination and, as it turns out, there wasn't anything to be nervous about after all. I felt like the instructions were not too wordy, but very clear and the diagrams are very helpful and clear as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jC8KOqCBRNw/U2zNosgTeII/AAAAAAAAD7k/1xRMYZ5UXXU/s1600/photo+5-9.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jC8KOqCBRNw/U2zNosgTeII/AAAAAAAAD7k/1xRMYZ5UXXU/s1600/photo+5-9.JPG" height="640" width="498" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had to take a picture in case I ruined it with the zipper and the attempt at lining. Nervous again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But then I did it and it was a little challenging to work with a seperating zipper, but it just took some extra time to line it up and some extra pins and it was ok!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to give credit to my four-year old for these pictures. My camera remote is being finicky and likes to be at a certain place by the camera before it will get the signal. So I set up the camera and then got my girl to stand next next to the camera and push the remote button.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had the mirror right there so I could check how my jacket was looking before shots if I needed to.</div>

<br />
After many makes that ended up not really being useful in my wardrobe or just weren't the right shape for me, I am much more commited to carefully considering fabric and style of the garments I sew. I try to see what attracts me in a shopping mall and then sew based off of those observations about myself. Yes, I want to sew something unique, but not so unique that I never feel comfortable taking it off the hanger to wear.<br />
<br />
I was happy to find that the Piko Top from Everything Your Mama Made was included in the Sew Fab pattern bundle this Spring because it is exactly the kind of pattern I need. I like to buy specialty patterns.. the kinds of things I can usually only justify sewing once because having five of them would be weird.<br />
<br />
A shirt like the Piko can be made in several different fabrics, with and without sleeves and provide a range of different looks.<br />
<br />
The pattern calls for a knit, but I changed it around, as usual and chose a silky rayon print for the front and short sleeves and knit for the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WaY2mnhtb4o/U2vPWExERMI/AAAAAAAAD6E/QlQnTgr3rEo/s1600/DSC_6972.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WaY2mnhtb4o/U2vPWExERMI/AAAAAAAAD6E/QlQnTgr3rEo/s1600/DSC_6972.jpg" height="640" width="420" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I compared the pattern pieces to a similar style knit shirt I already had and decided to take in the side seams several inches based on the fit of my other shirt. I still left plenty of ease, though, since I wasn't using a stretch fabric for the front.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2nvLrjFBJI4/U2vPVqujnyI/AAAAAAAAD6A/ToouCq7XnyQ/s1600/DSC_6975.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2nvLrjFBJI4/U2vPVqujnyI/AAAAAAAAD6A/ToouCq7XnyQ/s1600/DSC_6975.jpg" height="640" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't have enough of either of these two fabrics to make a whole garment, so the fabric mixing idea allowed me to use some fabrics from my stash that I loved and didn't know what to do with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9kvlu-gN4nA/U2vP3vi6ktI/AAAAAAAAD6Q/80H66AcY8mo/s1600/DSC_6969.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9kvlu-gN4nA/U2vP3vi6ktI/AAAAAAAAD6Q/80H66AcY8mo/s1600/DSC_6969.jpg" height="640" width="422" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It would be hard to find an easier sew than this top. This will be a great addition to my Summer wardrobe, but imagine it made in a yummy thick french terry or sweatshirt fleece and layered over a long-sleeved shirt in winter. Ooooohhhh! I totally need to do that!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This shirt had it's first outing yesterday when I took my girls to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.</div>

Today, let's take a look at The Satchel Bag by Handmade Therapy.<br />
First of all, can we just take a moment to recognize the awesomeness of the name of this shop? Making handmade is SO theraputic for me. Perfect name for a pattern shop. Hilda, the owner, sells not only patterns for bags, but also some lovely bags made from her patterns, as well as scarves, chapstick and more. You can see everything in her shop <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/handmadetherapy?ref=l2-shopheader-name">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Now on to the particular bag pattern included in the Sew Fab package, the Satchel Bag. Here's mine.<br />

<strong>Y'all... Mother's Day is Sunday and how cool would this bag be as a Mother's Day gift?</strong> It's a great basic, but very stylish bag. I love the examples from the etsy store in solid colors.<br />
You might want to go ahead and <a href="https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?ii=1340680&c=cart&aff=239453&ejc=2&cl=200637">buy the bundle</a> and get started. (I get a portion of each sale made through the links I post. Thanks in advance!) <br />

We are just not going to mention the embroidery, ok. It was a nice idea, in theory, but I should have made some different choices with it to get the full effect. Oh well.<br />
<br />
If you've followed my makes here for any length of time, you know that I am usually going to change something about the pattern or add or omit something based on my preferences. So, as you notice this week that I keep doing things differently than these patterns, know that it is not a reflection on the pattern, but just me using my sewing knowledge to get exactly what I want.<br />
<a href="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-3-19.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Image" class="size-full wp-image" src="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-3-19.jpg?w=650" height="400" id="i-857" width="299" /></a><a href="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-1-21.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Image" class="size-full wp-image" src="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-1-21.jpg?w=650" height="640" id="i-849" width="479" /></a><a href="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-4-12.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Image" class="size-full wp-image" src="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-4-12.jpg?w=650" height="400" id="i-855" width="299" /></a><br />

This bag was no exception. I made all the pattern pieces larger by about an inch. I added an inseam pocket to the outside. I added an interior zip pocket and ommited the patch pocket. I chose not to add the long, adjustable strap and just have two shorter straps, but didn't make them removeable as the pattern calls for. You can also see that I didn't use fabric for my straps.
<a href="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-5-7.jpg"><img alt="Image" class="size-full wp-image" src="http://mollyblossomdesign.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/photo-5-7.jpg?w=650" height="640" id="i-851" width="478" /></a>
In the next couple of days, I'll share with you over on my <a href="http://www.mollyblossomdesign.wordpress.com/">Molly Blossom Design blog</a> how I did the straps and the exterior pocket and the interior zip pocket, just in case you like the same things I do.<br />

<a href="https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?ii=1340680&c=cart&aff=239453&ejc=2&cl=200637" target="_blank"><img alt="Buy It Now" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11046" src="http://thesoutherninstitute.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Buy-It-Now1.jpg" height="160" width="300" /></a>
If you’ve never sewn with a PDF pattern before, let me tell you how great it is! After downloading your pattern, you will print out the pattern itself, creating pattern tiles, if you will. Simply tape the tiles together to create the full pattern! At that point you can cut out the size that you need and pin the paper pattern directly to your fabric, or you can trace the pattern size that you need onto sewing paper or tracing paper and cut it out, saving the paper pattern for later when you need to sew another size. PDF patterns are so convenient because you can print them out as many times as you need!
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #294592;">Now for the part you've been waiting for… the patterns!</span></h4>
A collection of 19 PDF Patterns from 19 well-known <strong>and</strong> up and coming designers are instantly accessible to you by PDF download upon purchase of the Sew Fab Pattern Bundle. Imagine all of the combinations that you can put together with this bundle of patterns, with many transitioning to fall and winter as well!
